The konkani community belonging to St John the Baptist Church,
Vijayanagar organized a family celebration on Sunday 11th
September 2011at 6.30 p.m.in the parish. This rare programme was
held in honour of the feast of Nativity of Mother Mary (Monti
Fest). It was indeed a solemn celebration which included 5
priests and nearly 200 people. As it was the feast of family,
the get- together was really a witnessing factor to the family
spirit and oneness in the community. Mr. Dolphy Lobo led the
whole programme as a M.C. Fr. Roshan D'Souza the assistant
parish priest invoked the blessings of God on the gathering.
Mrs. Meera Pereira welcomed the invitees present. Fr. John
Baptist Pinto the parish priest blessed the new meal (novem) and
was distributed to the people. The konkani youth under the
leadership of Mr. Valerian Menezes (Clary, Jithesh, Wilma and
Prakash) entertained the whole gathering with their fun and
jokes. There was a melodius song by youth Evita, Dovita and
Larissa. Also Jeevan and Neesha entertained the audience with
their song. Mr. Vincent Concesso was felicitated by the parish
priest and also acknowledged the services of Mr. Jostus Pinto. In
his address Fr. Pinto the parish priest thanked everyone for
organizing such a celebration and also wished to have such
gatherings often. He also wished everyone a happy family feast.
Fr. Vinod Lobo prayed the grace of God over the meals. Mrs.
Mezhy Lobo delivered the vote of thanks. Hence the family
gathering was concluded with the fellowship meal.
